Hartt congratulations Mary Walsh, who received her master’s degree in music education at The Hartt School. Last week Mary was named Teacher of the Year at Bennet Academy (Manchester, CT’s new 6th grade only school) and this week was named Manchester Teacher of the Year. Walsh sites Dr. John Feierabend’s 1994 Summerterm course as her inspiration; it was the course which transformed her philosophy of music education and led her on the path to her master’s degree. Walsh stated that Feierabend’s “work has guided [her] leadership in curriculum development in Manchester and now touches every child in [her] town.”
