Mission
The Hartt Performance Library supports the academic and
performance programs of The Hartt School. Working closely
with the Allen Memorial Library and Hartt faculty conductors,
the Performance Library acquires, catalogs, lends, and maintains
music performance materials for Hartt's large-scale performing
ensembles and musical instruments that are needed for Hartt
performances and educational programs.
The Collection
The Hartt Performance Library houses scores and parts for
Hartt's performing ensembles and a musical instrument collection.
The Library's holdings include more than 800 orchestral
compositions, 1,000 wind ensemble and band compositions,
1,000 choral compositions, 500 arrangements for youth orchestra,
and 300 arrangements for youth wind ensemble and band. The
Performance Library is also home to the performance materials
of Hartt faculty and students composition for large ensembles.
Hartt Faculty should request purchase or rental of music
for Hartt performance groups through the Library Curator.
The Hartt Performance Library also houses Hartt's musical
instrument collection which comprises instruments from the
Renaissance to the Modern period. The Library provides secure
musical instrument storage units to students and faculty.
Other Resources
The Hartt Performance Library has an established resource
sharing Music Partnership with many local professional and
community based music schools and organizations.
