About Hartt

The Hartt School is the comprehensive performing arts conservatory of the University of Hartford. Hartt offers innovative degree programs in music, dance, and theatre. Renowned faculty who perform and teach around the world mentor our students in their pursuits of excellence. With dozens of performing organizations and more than 400 instrumental and vocal performances, recitals, plays, master classes, dance performances, and musical theatre productions a year, performance is central to Hartt's curriculum.

Welcome from the Dean

Welcome to The Hartt School, where our students discover all that the world has to offer and all they have to offer the world. At Hartt, students are inspired by our faculty, guest artists and teachers, and each other, as they learn and prepare for meaningful careers and lives in the performing arts and beyond.

Hartt faculty members understand that to foster artistic growth among their students, they must provide inspiration, nurture creativity and collaboration, and encourage determination, perseverance, and dedication. Through their studies, professional preparation, and participation in more than 400 music, dance, and theatre performances each academic year, our students learn and grow as performers, educators, producers and technicians, arts administrators, and scholars.

You, too, may experience Hartt - as a conservatory or Community Division student - or as a patron. We look forward to seeing you here at Hartt, whether in a classroom or studio, or in the audience.

Regards,

Dr. Aaron Flagg
Dean
