Hartt Celebrates
Each year, the entire Hartt community joins together to celebrate the performing arts at Hartt, and to ensure Hartt's bright future. This year's spectacular event, Hartt Celebrates Its Future, took place on Saturday evening, October 15, at the Hartford Marriott Downtown.
Hartt Celebrates Its Future featured a special performance by renowned soprano Harolyn Blackwell, known for her expressive and exuberant performances on Broadway, and on opera stages and in recital halls around the world.
Also taking the stage, Hartt's newest faculty members Kevin Gray, who has sung and acted in more than 8,500 Broadway and national tour performances, and Maestro Edward Cumming, who recently completed his tenure as Music Director of the Hartford Symphony. Blackwell, Gray, and renowned jazz vocalist and Hartt faculty member Shawnn Monteiro performed together accompanied by the Hartt Symphony Orchestra, lead by Maestro Cumming.
Our celebration featured an elegant opening reception and seated dinner; magnificent performances by our students; a unique and diverse selection of silent auction items; an exciting live auction; and dancing with jazz after the event.
Last year, thanks to our many generous supporters and attendees, Hartt Celebrates 90 Years generated a record $90,000 to help support Hartt's students and programs, and we look forward to an even more exciting and fruitful event this year!
