Undergraduate Audition Requirements
Applicants in all degree programs will audition, except those for the BA in Music without lessons and the BA in Performing Arts Management. All applicants, regardless of intended major, must also interview.
Scheduling an Audition/Interview
Applicants will select their preferred audition/interview dates on the Hartt Supplemental Application. Both the University of Hartford and Hartt Supplemental Applications must be submitted before an audition/interview will be scheduled. Hartt Admissions will mail an Audition/Interview Confirmation Letter to the applicant confirming the audition date and schedule.

The Undergraduate Music Theory Placement Test
Written theory testing determines course placement (Fundamentals or Harmony). Areas covered include scales, intervals, triads, rhythmic notation, and music terminology
The Music Aptitude Profile Test
The Music Aptitude Profile (MAP) measures innate rhythmic and melodic talent and potential for growth.
Musicianship Test for Vocal Applicants
This short test, completed following the voice audition, consists of sight-reading and basic piano skills
