Intensive Ballet (age 8-19)
The Intensive Ballet Program is designed for students age 8-19, progressing from a foundation to a pre-professional level. Students study ballet between two and six days a week, depending on their level. In addition to the study of classical ballet, students take classes in other dance forms, including modern and jazz, to enrich their understanding of dance styles, giving them the opportunity to broaden their skills and develop the versatility that is now required of professional dancers.
The Hartt School Community Division Dance Department provides training from some of the most accomplished and experienced professionals in the area. Students gain the lifelong benefits of dance, including the development of self-esteem, good posture, coordination and fitness, physical and mental confidence, and discipline.
All intensive students begin with foundation classes and gradually progress into higher level classes. Foundation classes prepare the young student (age 8 - 10) for entry into the intensive program. No audition is required for participation in foundation courses, and students may take other classes in the Community Division if interested.
Foundation classes are offered at both our Hartford and Simsbury locations. Advanced classes (levels A through F) are only offered in Hartford.
