The Nutcracker
Let the Dream Begin...
Hartt's Nutcracker is a unique opportunity to see talented young dancers perform in this classic holiday story while dancing to Tchaikovsky's beautiful score.
The production, staged by our new Artistic Director, Samantha Dunster, uses young dancers from all levels. These dancers will share the stage with guest artist Stephen Pier, a former dancer of the Royal Danish Ballet, performing the role of Uncle Drosselmeyer. We are also delighted to announce the participation of several former Hartford Ballet Dancers as well as cameo appearances by Better Connecticut hosts Scot Haney and Kara Sundlun, mayors Pedro Segarra (Hartford) and Scott Slifka (West Hartford), University of Hartford President Walter Harrison and Aaron Flagg, Dean of The Hartt School. These special guest appearances will be spread across the three performances, so each will be a surprise!
This is a wonderful opportunity to see young artists perform a full-length ballet laced with humor, bravery, and sensitivity. It is guaranteed to ignite the child within all of us and invoke the warmth of the holiday season.
