Music Programs at The Hartt School Community Division

The Hartt School Community Division is an amazing place to share the joy of learning about and making music with all kinds of people. There are a wide variety of music lessons, classes, and ensembles for students of all ages and abilities.

What should I know?

  • Most classes have open enrollment and do not require an audition.
  • We have over 150 artist/educators specializing in their instrument and field.
  • Our teachers hold a holistic view, developing well rounded musicians from practice to performance.
  • Indvidualized studies allow students to progress at their own pace and focus on their own goals.

Where should I begin?

If you have never been part of a music school before, the list of choices can seem overwhelming. Below you can find the programs that people ask about most often with a note about each. If you are not sure which is best for you, get in touch with our main office by phone at 860.768.4451, or email.

Whatever your musical background or interest, you are welcome here!

Young learners (infants−kindergarten)
Our youngest students can take advantage of programs designed just for them.

School-age students (grades 1−12)
Once students reach first grade, they can begin to participate in a much wider variety of programs.

The Hartt School Community Division is devoted to the joys of music making.
