Music Programs at The Hartt School Community Division
The Hartt School Community Division's Music Department offers a wide variety of music lessons, classes, and ensembles for those of all ages and abilities. Whether you are an advanced instrumentalist or vocalist seeking high quality private instruction and performance ensembles, or you are a beginner hoping to start private lessons, we have excellent teachers for you.
For the very young we offer our First Steps in Music program. School-aged children can take private lessons including Suzuki instruction, or choose vocal and choral study through the internationally recognized Connecticut Children's Chorus.
We also offer a wide variety of instrumental performing ensembles. Our wind ensembles include Harmony Winds, Philharmonia Winds, and the Greater Hartford Youth Wind Ensemble. Our string orchestras include Sinfonia and the Suzuki String Orchestras. Students also have opportunities to perform in a full orchestra through Opus 89 and the Connecticut Youth Symphony.
Chamber ensembles present an opportunity to hone ensemble skills in a small, collegial atmosphere.
For adults, we offer private study in voice and all instruments. We also feature ensemble opportunities, including the Adult Chamber Choir, Celesti Sondato, and chamber music.
No matter what your interest or background, come to The Hartt School Community Division and enjoy the experience of music making. When you join Hartt, you are joining a program rich with performance and learning opportunities and you are joining a community that is passionate about it does.
