About the Seminar
The "E" welcomes 2013 Ensemble-in-Residence, the Hausmann Quartet
The Einfeldt Chamber Music Seminar is an intensive residential chamber music program for advanced high school string players. For nine days, students are engaged in a dynamic combination of classes, performances, and social opportunities:
- Daily Quartet Coaching with an assigned coach from our resident ensemble, the Hausmann Quartet
- Chamber Music Seminars and Guided Rehearsals
The students’ experience will be enriched with instruction and inspiration from violinist Debbie Price and the Cavani Quartet’s Annie Fullard.
Student groups will work with the entire Hausmann Quartet to further hone their quartet experience.
New in 2013, students will have applied instrument masterclass on two different days during the Seminar, and will have the chance to receive feedback on their playing from two different members of The Hartt School faculty. This will give them a chance to explore what it might be like to attend Hartt as a college student.
- Music Professions Seminars
These sessions will give students a chance to interact with professionals in various types of musical careers, to help them in thinking about their goals and choices for the future.
Daily chamber orchestra rehearsals culminate in a performance in collaboration with the Hartt Suzuki Institute.
We believe that the social aspects of the seminar are equally important, and so students not only make music together, but have time to form friendships that can last a lifetime.
With all that we have to offer, no two days are identical. On any given day, you may participate in a noontime outdoor concert in the breezeway, be involved in a community service field trip to the Boys & Girls Clubs or visit a retirement center with the Hausmann Quartet for a performance.
