First Steps in Music
First Steps in Music runs a one-month session in July where children, ages 0-5, are introduced to music through singing, playing, and moving to sounds with their parents and classmates. We also run Fall, Winter, and Spring sessions during the academic year. Click here for information about the next First Steps in Music session.
The Hartt Community Division Dance Department offers weekly dance classes for children and adults during the summer months

The Summer Vocal Institute: Musical Theater Intensive Professional Program
The Hartt Summer Vocal Institute: Music Theatre Intensive Professional Program provides a pre-professional musical theatre experience for talented and motivated performing artists from across the country who wish to pursue a career in musical theatre.

The Hartt Summer Vocal Institute: Music Theatre Intensive Junior Program provides an outstanding musical theatre experience for talented and motivated performing artists in grades 4-8.

From Studio to Stage
From Studio to Stage is designed to train serious young dancers, ages 11 and up, with a foundation in solid ballet technique.
***Please note that children who are 11 years old will audition for FSTS II. The student may be moved up to FSTS at the discretion of the Artistic Director

Latin Meets Jazz
Latin Meets Jazz is a lively weeklong program for dedicated young musicians interested in finding their own unique sound through Latin Jazz music.

Piano Group Class for Beginners
Find out what piano study is all about! Children will learn fundamentals of music, play several pieces from Piano Safari® Method by ear, and explore sounds on the piano. Group Classes are a wonderful way for students of all ages to begin piano study. The class meets twice a week in July, and parents are welcome to attend class with their child. At the end of the summer session, the instructor will provide individualized options for continuing piano study.

Private Music Lessons: all instruments, including voice, guitar, and piano
The Hartt School Community Division offers private music instruction from highly qualified faculty who specialize on their individual instrument. The summer schedule for private lessons is flexible so you and your teacher can plan around family vacations and summer activities.

Summer Masterclasses for the Developing Musician
Summer Masterclasses for the Developing Musician are one-week intensive programs focused on the Middle and High School strings, wind, brass, and percussion student. These classes are designed to challenge students, encouraging them to reach their potential in a positive and supportive environment.

Hartt Suzuki Institute
The Hartt Suzuki Institute includes classes for both students and teachers. Students experience focused study on their instrument, while teachers will study the repertory, philosophy, and methods introduced by the respected Japanese educator Shinichi Suzuki. All teacher workshop courses are taught by specialists who are registered teacher trainers with the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA).
