Young Composers Project: Summer Edition

The Hartt Community Division is excited to announce The Young Composers Project Summer Edition, a new intensive workshop for students interested in writing music to be held August 1-5, 2016.  For this first year, the workshop’s theme will be Art Song, and all participants will create a new song for voice and piano over the course of the week, culminating in a final performance.  Students will be given instruction on writing for voice, creating accompaniments, working with text, structuring a song, and more.  They will work in small groups and one-on-one with YCP Director Jessica Rudman to develop their pieces, and their pieces-in-progress will be workshopped by performance faculty multiple times during the week, so students can see their compositions come to life as they are working on them.
