August 5-August 10
For students, the Suzuki Student Institute offers intensive study in violin, viola, cello, guitar, and piano. Each student receives a minimum of 4 hours per day of formal instruction, with students in Books 4 and above receiving 5 hours per day. Instruction includes a masterclass (in which each child will receive individual instruction), a repertoire class, an ensemble or movement class, and at least one additional class appropriate to the instrument and level of the child. Additional classes will be assigned by the institute according to student instrument and level. In addition, students are expected to practice a minimum of one hour per day.
August 4-August 12
The Suzuki Teacher Workshop is designed for teachers who wish to gain expertise in Suzuki pedagogy. All teacher workshop courses are taught by specialists who are registered teacher trainers with the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA). Applicants who qualify as participants, complete required observations, and attend all sessions will be able to register these courses with the SAA. Additionally, two University of Hartford graduate credits may be earned by qualified participants.
