Biography: Alla Nikitina was born in the Ukraine. Her early training began at the Donetsk School of Ballet. She then went on to study at the famous St. Petersburg State Academy of Arts, where she studied classical ballet and character dance with the celebrated Boris Bregvadze, Bella Ozjegov, and Alexander Lefshitz, former soloists of the Kirov Ballet. In 1979 Alla graduated from the Academy with honors and embarked on a successful career with a number of Russian dance companies. In 1985 she became the founder and artistic director of the Rovesnik Dance Company in Kiev, Ukraine. Her company's numerous appearances in Europe were a success, and Mrs. Nikitina has received high awards for excellence and mastership at national and international dance competitions and festivals, including the first prize at the First National Choreographer's competition of the Ukraine in 1985. She is a winner of the prestigious N. Livitsky National Award. Mrs. Nikitina is now a full time member of the faculty at The Hartt School of the University of Hartford. She is also a guest teacher at a number of professional dance schools in the United States, including the Boston Ballet School, the School of Rochester Ballet, Brass City Ballet and others.
