Bonita Weisman

Biography: Bonita Weisman has been teaching, performing and choreographing in Hartford since 1983.

Her dance training took place in New York City, SUNY Purchase and Boston, under such notables as Bonnie Bird, Mary Anthony, June Lewis, Louis Falco, James Truitt, Carol Fried, Simone Forti and Marilyn Woods.

Previously, Ms. Weisman taught in Boston at the Institute of Contemporary Art, The Joy of Movement Center, and the Boston Center for the Arts. In the Hartford area, she has taught at Connecticut College, Trinity College, The Greater Hartford Academy for the Performing Arts, Wesleyan University, The Hartford Conservatory and Dance Connecticut.

In addition to dance technique, Ms. Weisman's training includes studies in dance therapy at the New School for Social Research, Expressive Therapies at Lesley College Graduate School and movement studies at the Laban Institute in New York City.

Along with her teaching schedule, Ms. Weisman maintains a private practice as a muscular therapist through her business, West Hartford Massage Therapy.
