Biography: Christopher Baker is the Associate Producer/Dramaturg at Hartford Stage. He previously served as the dramaturg for The Shakespeare Theatre in Washington, DC; PlayMakers Repertory Company; and the Alley Theatre; and has worked with such artists as Robert Wilson, Michael Wilson, Anne Bogart, Andrei Serban, Adrian Hall, Michael Kahn, Bart Sher, Gregory Boyd, William Luce and Eve Ensler. He was a Lecturer and Visiting Assistant Professor of Dramaturgy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has taught at the Moscow Art Theatre School and the International School of the Philippines and served as a literary advisor to The Juilliard School of Drama. A contributor to the book The Production Notebooks, his articles have appeared in Theatre Journal, Hog River Journal, American Theatre Magazine, The Hartford Courant and the book The Lively ART. As a director he staged Oleanna, Calliope Jam (his own play for children) and touring productions of Julius Caesar and Twelfth Night for the Alley Theatre, Orestes for the University of North Carolina and readings at the Alley Theatre, Stages Theatre, the University of North Carolina and Hartford Stage. He has also re-staged Michael Wilson's productions of A Christmas Carol at the Alley and Beauty and the Beast at PlayMakers. He received a BS from Northwestern University and an MFA from the American Repertory Theatre Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard/Moscow Art Theatre School.
