Biography: Michael Morris graduated at age eighteen from Boston's Berklee College of Music, then worked extensively in Nashville, Tenn., as a musical director, composer, arranger, and orchestrator before becoming director of music for The Hartt School Theatre Division in 1999. His theatre credits include dance arrangements for Big (national tour), orchestrations for The Game (Barrington Stage), O. Henry's Lovers (Goodspeed-at-Chester), Hunchback of Notre Dame (Tennessee Repertory Theatre), and consultant for Peggy Sue Got Married (Marriott Lincolnshire). Among his recording credits: Liza Minelli and Alan Cumming, Christine Ebersole, Liz and Ann Hampton Callaway, and the London Symphony and London Philharmonic Orchestras. A composer and award-winning songwriter as well, Michael teaches History of Music Theatre and Music Theatre Chorus Lab at Hartt. He has also provided musical direction for numerous productions, including Brigadoon, Anything Goes, Kiss Me Kate, Babes in Arms, West Side Story, Ragtime, A Little Night Music, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and the original musical dramas Battleship Potemkin, The Perfect 36, Crazy Mary, and Hot and Sweet.
