Stephen Scarlato is active as a piano accompanist and organist in the Greater Hartford area. He received his Bachelor of Music in organ performance from The Hartt School, where he studied under Larry Allen. While at The Hartt School, Stephen received the University of Hartford's Regents Honors Award for academic excellence, won prizes in the Albert Schweitzer Organ Festival/USA, was a finalist in Hartt's Performance 20/20 competition, and received the Ethel Greenberg scholarship for outstanding performance within the organ department. He graduated summa cum laude. As a freelance piano and organ accompanist he has appeared with, among others, Connecticut Opera, CONCORA, Commonwealth Opera, the Vernon Chorale, the Greater Hartford Opera Ensemble, Hartford Opera Theater, Connecticut Concert Opera, the New Haven Chorale, the Mostly Baroque Players, the West Hartford Women's Chorale, and the New England Music Festival. He can be heard on the Valmarie Music CD 'The Ash Grove' with soprano Julie M. Poole. He currently serves as organist at Old St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Bloomfield, CT, and as an adjunct vocal accompanist in The Hartt School's vocal studies division.
