Exam Study Guide 
Returning Students:
Entering graduate students who have successfully completed a prior Hartt graduate degree or diploma within the past 2 years and successfully completed the graduate music theory, ear training, and music history placement examination requirements during that program do not have to retake the placement examinations.
Entering graduate diploma students who plan to apply for admission to a Hartt graduate degree program beginning in January and who have not successfully completed a prior Hartt graduate program fulfilling the graduate music theory, ear training, and music history placement examination requirements may take those exams in August.

Audition for Instrumental/Vocal Performing Organizations:
All incoming graduate instrumental, vocal, and music education majors will audition for a performing organization. Choral audition sign-up sheets will be available outside of room 411 and instrumental audition sign-up sheets will be available outside of room 119A of the Fuller Music Center on Tuesday, September 4. Instrumental and vocal division majors will receive further information about these auditions in June. Please contact the appropriate Division Coordinator if you are a music education student or if you do not receive this information in mid-June.

Financial Aid:
Hartt scholarship offers have been allocated for the 2012-2013 academic year. Your first tuition bill will arrive in September (the university no longer uses paper billing; everything is done online) and cannot be issued until after you register for classes on September 4*, after placement tests have been taken and graded.
Instrumental Studies Division students will receive their scholarship contracts in the mail by June 1, 2012. Please sign these contracts and return them by June 15, 2012.
The University of Hartford offers need-based financial aid to eligible students to help defray their education expenses. To be considered for need-based financial aid, you must submit the Free Application for Free Student Financial Aid at www.fafsa.ed.gov and complete the 2012-2013 Graduate Financial Aid Forms
There are three requirements which students must satisfy in order to be eligible for financial aid:
- Be matriculated into a graduate degree or diploma-granting program.
- Be registered for at least 6 credits a semester, except Summerterm, which contains 2 six-week sessions. You may satisfy the 6 credit requirement during Summerterm by taking 6 credits during one session or by taking 3 credits each session.
- File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2012-2013 academic year and meet all eligibility requirements established by the U. S. Department of Education.
Financial aid packets will be mailed from the University of Hartford's Office of Financial Aid in July. Please direct questions regarding financial aid to Priscilla Janssen .

Graduate Student Housing:
On-Campus Housing
Limited Graduate Student Housing is available on the University of Hartford's Asylum Avenue Campus. This campus is a little over a mile from the Bloomfield Avenue Campus. The University of Hartford's shuttle bus provides transportation between the campuses.
